Yiftach Golov, an elite forces veteran and member of the “Brother and Sisters in Arms” group, has taken up the cause of protesting against the Israeli government’s judicial overhaul plan. Golov, along with thousands of veterans and military reservists, feels it is their responsibility to fight for justice and save Israeli democracy. While some reservists have threatened to refuse service, Golov believes in fighting through peaceful protests. These veterans, equipped with skills learned from the military, are using their organization and mobilization skills to make a difference. The pressure from these highly motivated veterans has been instrumental in pushing for change. Although Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a delay in the legislation, protesters continue to take to the streets. The protest movement has gained significant traction, with estimates of up to 230,000 people participating in recent demonstrations. The protesters do not believe that the pause in the legislation is genuine, seeing it as a stalling tactic. They vow to continue fighting until they are certain that Israel will remain a functional democratic country.
